Faraj Al-Bahsani Leaves the UAE-Funded Camp and Joins the Saudi Initiative for Dialogue

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, the third member of the Presidential Leadership Council who had rebelled against the decisions of President Rashad Al-Alimi, announced a shift away from his previous positions that supported secession and UAE-backed chaos.

Al-Bahsani joined the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s call to hold a comprehensive southern dialogue to discuss fair solutions to the Southern Issue.

In his statement, Al-Bahsani praised the Saudi initiative, describing it as sincere and a natural extension of the fraternal and historical relations between the two countries.

He affirmed that the initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s concern for Yemen’s stability in light of the requirements and challenges of the current stage.

Al-Bahsani emphasized that the dialogue should lead to fair solutions that meet the legitimate aspirations of the people of the South and lay the foundation for a new phase of stability and peace in the region.

In response, southern activists reacted sharply to Al-Bahsani, asserting that the Southern Transitional Council has no presence in the dialogue and that “the train has already passed them by,” and calling for his prosecution on charges of treason and the shedding of innocent blood.
