Southern Leaders Reject Aidarous Al-Zubaidi’s Unilateral Actions, Call for Inclusive Conference in Riyadh

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
A number of southern political figures and factions issued a strongly worded statement rejecting the unilateral measures taken by Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), accusing him of monopolizing the representation of the South and ignoring many political and social components and influential figures in the southern governorates.
The statement—signed by members of the Presidential Leadership Council, senior government officials, the speakers of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council, as well as a number of former ministers and advisers—said that these unilateral actions were taken to serve an external agenda that has caused serious harm to the Southern cause and to the gains of the people of the southern governorates.
The statement expressed an unequivocal rejection of these steps and called for the convening of an inclusive conference under the auspices of the Presidential Leadership Council, with the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to host the meeting in Riyadh. The aim, it said, is to open a national dialogue that brings together all southern components and political and social figures, and to formulate fair solutions that take into account the historical, political, and social dimensions of the issue without exclusion or marginalization.
The signatories stressed the importance of preventing any single party from monopolizing or exploiting the Southern cause, and called for the creation of an environment that ensures peaceful coexistence for all residents of the southern governorates, and achieves security, stability, and the desired development.
The list of signatories included prominent figures from the internationally recognized government and members of the House of Representatives and the Shura Council, in addition to a wide range of southern groups such as the Hadramawt Inclusive Conference, the Supreme Council of the Southern Revolutionary Movement, and the Southern National Coalition, as well as well-known social and diplomatic figures.
