United Nations: 1,228 Yemeni Families Displaced to Marib Due to Escalating Violence in Hadramawt

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs confirmed on Thursday that 1,228 families have been displaced from Hadramawt to Marib as of December 21, 2025.

The city of Marib and Marib Al-Wadi are hosting the majority of these displaced families.

In a report, the office pointed to escalating security tensions in parts of Hadramawt over the past week, increasing the risks of harm to civilians, further displacement, and disruption of services.

Rapid response mechanism assistance has reached 1,224 families, while remaining supplies are limited, and additional groups await access.

The report clarified that health and nutrition services are under severe strain, and additional supplies may be needed to ensure availability.

It emphasized that continuous coordination, humanitarian access, and urgent resource mobilization remain essential.

In a related context, the office confirmed that recent developments in Hadramawt have led to a reshaping of control areas, as large-scale hostilities have subsided and reported incidents remain sporadic.

According to the UN report, measures such as imposing restrictions on carrying weapons within city centers have improved security perceptions. However, the ambiguity surrounding military deployments and administrative arrangements may continue to pose operational and managerial challenges for humanitarian actors.
