Hadramawt Tribal Alliance: STC Forces Stormed Homes and Carried Out Arrests in Ghayl Bin Yamin

Yemen Monitor/ Newsroom:

The Hadramawt Tribal Alliance accused forces arriving from outside the province and affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) of launching attacks on the areas of Ghayl Bin Yamin and Wadi Khard. This led to armed clashes with local residents, resulting in deaths and injuries.

In a statement, the Alliance said these forces stormed residential homes, violated their sanctity, terrorized women and children, and carried out arrests, as well as intensive and indiscriminate gunfire. This, the statement said, ignited armed confrontations with the local population.

The Hadramawt Tribal Alliance issued an appeal to members of the Hadrami Elite Forces, calling on them to align with the Tribal Alliance, the Hadramawt Protection Forces, and the Popular Resistance, in defense of the province and the interests of its people. It affirmed that the option of neutrality remains a responsible stance for those who do not wish to engage in the confrontations, to spare Hadramawt further complications.

The Alliance also called on the Hadhrami Elite Forces not to be drawn into the ranks of the STC forces, warning against using their personnel on the front lines of confrontations and the potential risks of doing so.

The statement held the regional and international community morally and humanly responsible for the situation in Hadramawt, calling for intervention to stop the escalation and protect civilians.

Since Thursday evening, the Ghayl Bin Yamin district in Hadramawt province has witnessed armed clashes involving heavy weapons between Southern Transitional Council forces and armed members of the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance, marking a new field escalation in the region.

Video recordings showed an attack carried out by tribal elements on one of the military gatherings belonging to the Transitional Council, while STC forces pushed military reinforcements to the field, including crews and armored vehicles.
