Jordan Supports the Saudi Statement and Reaffirms Yemen’s Unity; Oman Calls for De-escalation and Dialogue

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Jordan affirmed its support for the statement issued by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding developments in Yemen, stressing the need to preserve Yemen’s unity and stability and to reach a comprehensive political solution that brings the crisis to an end.

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the efforts led by Saudi Arabia to enhance security and stability and advance de-escalation. The ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, said that Jordan stands alongside initiatives aimed at making progress in the political process in the sisterly Republic of Yemen.

Al-Majali emphasized the importance of concerted Arab and international efforts to reach a political solution that guarantees Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity and helps alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

For its part, the Sultanate of Oman called for avoiding escalation in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahra and for a return to the political track and comprehensive dialogue. Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is closely following developments in the two governorates, commending the efforts undertaken by Saudi Arabia with the relevant parties to reach peaceful solutions.

The Omani statement underscored the importance of engaging in political dialogue that includes the various Yemeni parties, in a way that contributes to consolidating security, stability, and peace, and preserves the policy of good-neighborliness.

This comes within the context of Arab and Gulf positions supporting Yemen’s unity and rejecting any military escalation in the governorates of Hadramout and Al-Mahra, in clear endorsement of the statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which warned of the dangers of unilateral moves carried out by the Southern Transitional Council, backed by Abu Dhabi, and described them as an unjustified escalation that has harmed the interests of the Yemeni people and efforts to achieve stability.
