Three Appointments in Record Time… STC Tightens Grip on Al-Mahrah’s Economic Levers

Musab Saleh Jumaan bin Hameed, deputy head of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Al-Mahrah governorate in eastern Yemen, has assumed his duties as director of Al-Ghaydah Airport after being appointed by the STC-aligned minister of transport, replacing Nouija‘ Saad Nouija‘.
Since the arrival of its military forces in Al-Mahrah, the STC has issued a series of appointments to three key positions, assigning its affiliates to senior roles at the Shahn land border crossing, Al-Ghaydah Airport, and the local branch of the General Authority for Geological Survey.
On December 7, STC-aligned Transport Minister Abdul Salam Saleh Humaid issued a decision appointing Muslim Saeed Salem Za‘bnot as acting director-general of Shahn land port. In a separate decision, he appointed Musab Saleh Jumaan Hameed—STC deputy head in Al-Mahrah—as director of Al-Ghaydah International Airport.
In the oil and minerals sector, Minister Saeed Suleiman Al-Shamasi issued a decision appointing Tareq Salem Mohammed Al-Aboudi, the son of the current minister of public works, as director of the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority’s office in Al-Mahrah.
