STC: Our Political Project Is Close to Realization

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) has reaffirmed its determination to move forward with its political project—namely the secession of southern Yemen from the north—describing the current phase as a pivotal moment in the south’s history.

The remarks were made during a regular meeting of the STC’s Supreme Executive Leadership, held on Saturday and chaired by STC President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, with his deputy, Abdulrahman Al-Muharrami, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, also in attendance.

The meeting reviewed the outcomes of a gathering held Friday evening with the joint forces command of the Arab Coalition, and the understandings reached to strengthen security and stability in the liberated governorates, combat terrorism, secure maritime routes, and safeguard maritime security.

During the meeting, Al-Zubaidi stressed that the STC is proceeding steadily with its political project, which he said is now close to being achieved. He added that the current stage requires greater coordination, teamwork, and enhanced institutional performance—steps he said would positively reflect on service delivery and help ease the suffering of citizens.

On Friday evening, a joint Saudi–Emirati delegation arrived at the presidential palace in the interim capital, Aden, as part of what were described as urgent efforts to contain escalating tensions in the eastern governorates and to push STC forces to withdraw from areas they had recently taken control of.

However, the delegation departed Aden on Saturday without any official announcement regarding the outcome of its meeting with the STC president.
