TV: New Military Arrangements by Coalition to Remove “STC” from Hadramawt and Al-Mahra

Yemen Monitor / Aden / Exclusive:

A Saudi television channel reported on Friday that the joint (Saudi/Emirati) military delegation is discussing the withdrawal of Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces from the provinces of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra in the temporary Yemeni capital, Aden.

A Saudi/Emirati delegation, which includes military leaders, arrived earlier with the aim of rearranging the military map in Yemen’s eastern provinces through a plan that entails replacing formations of the STC with forces from the “Homeland Shield.”

The Saudi channel “Al Arabiya Al Hadath” quoted its sources as saying that the Arab Coalition’s military team will immediately begin discussions upon arrival on establishing the executive mechanisms for the withdrawal of forces affiliated with the “STC” from the strategic provinces of Hadramawt and Al-Mahra.

The sources clarified that the joint team’s agenda primarily focuses on making the necessary arrangements to hand over the security and military file in these two provinces to the “Homeland Shield” forces, which were recently established with Saudi support and equipment.

According to the same sources, the “Homeland Shield” forces will commence their duties according to coordinated operational procedures and under the direct supervision of the Coalition’s leadership, to ensure security and stability in these vital areas.

Media outlets affiliated with the STC had previously stated that the talks would not address the withdrawal of the Council’s forces from the two provinces.
