Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Yemen U-23 national football team arrived in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday morning ahead of their participation in the Gulf Cup for this age category, scheduled to kick off on December 4 and run through December 16.
Yemen has been drawn into Group B alongside Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman— a lineup that poses both technical and competitive challenges. The team concluded its external training camp in Cairo on Monday evening, where the coaching staff conducted a tactical session focused on implementing the team’s playing style and tournament strategies.
The delegation is headed by Arafat Mohammed Al-Dhala’i and includes a technical and administrative staff featuring Captain Abdullah Fadheel, head of the technical committee; team manager Abdurraqib Mahyoub Al-Adini; head coach Qais Mohammed Saleh; assistant coach Hani Ahmed Abdulrahman; and goalkeepers’ coach Mahmoud Ali Abdu.
The squad list includes 19 players, among them Waddah Anwar Mohammed, Anas Anees Al-Hakeemi, Ahmed Mustafa Al-Hajj, and Ahmed Khaled Bin Buraik. Four additional players currently based in Doha—Osama Al-Wahedi, Adel Abbas, Ali Al-Daqeen, and Abdulaziz Mansoom—are set to join the team there.
According to the Yemeni Football Association, the team’s participation comes as part of broader efforts to strengthen Yemen’s presence in Gulf tournaments and achieve more competitive levels in regional competitions.
