“MASAM” Announces Clearance of 4,726 Mines and Explosives in November 2025

The Saudi-funded “MASAM” project for mine clearance in Yemen, operating under the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, announced on Sunday that its teams successfully removed 4,726 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the month of November.

According to a statement released by MASAM’s media office, engineering teams cleared 4,070 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 616 anti-tank mines, 23 anti-personnel mines, and 17 IEDs as part of the project’s intensified operations across several mine-contaminated areas in Yemen.

The statement added that last week alone, teams removed 961 mines, UXO, and IEDs. During the third week of November, they cleared 862 pieces of UXO, 92 anti-tank mines, 6 anti-personnel mines, and one IED.

MASAM also reported that its engineering teams succeeded last week in clearing 413,778 square meters of land, bringing the total area cleared since the beginning of November to 1,658,647 square meters.

Since its launch in late June 2018 through November 28 of this year, Masam has removed a total of 526,460 landmines, UXO, and IEDs across various affected Yemeni governorates.

The total area cleared by the project has now reached an estimated 74,072,251 square meters of Yemeni land.
