Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed alarming data indicating the continued outbreak of cholera in Yemen, with the country recording 87,566 suspected cases of cholera and acute watery diarrhea between January and October 2025.
The epidemiological report issued by the organization explained that Yemen ranks second globally in terms of the disease’s prevalence, after Afghanistan, which recorded 145,907 new infections, and third in the mortality rate caused by this epidemic.
According to the same report, 237 people died in Yemen during the same period due to this epidemic, reflecting a high mortality rate of 260 deaths per 100,000 cases—a rate that exceeds most affected countries except for South Sudan and Afghanistan.
The WHO confirmed that the continued cholera outbreak poses a significant health challenge for Yemen, amid difficult humanitarian and environmental conditions that further weaken the health system and exacerbate the epidemic crisis.
