Family of Man “Forcibly Disappeared” in STC Prisons for 8 Years Demands Disclosure of His Fate

Yemen Monitor / Aden / Exclusive:

The family of citizen Nader Saleh Mohammed Ali, who has been forcibly disappeared in the prisons of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) since November 2017, has demanded that his fate be revealed and that legal procedures be completed if any charges exist against him—or that he be released.

In an exclusive statement to Yemen Monitor, the family accused the STC-controlled security forces in Aden of forcibly disappearing him since 5 November 2017. For eight years, they have had no information about his fate. The disappearance occurred while he was performing his duties at the Criminal Investigation Department in Khormaksar.

His family confirmed that Nader was one of the field leaders of the resistance during the confrontations with Houthi militants in 2015. He was known for his integrity in protecting property after the liberation of Aden. They explained that his principled stance made him a target for influential individuals seeking to seize a major real estate investment project that he was protecting, as he had refused to submit to their pressures and threats aimed at confiscating it.

The family stated that they have knocked on every door—security authorities, the Specialized Criminal Prosecution, the National Committee for Investigation, and international organizations—but all efforts have yielded no results in uncovering his fate.

According to Nader’s brother, his workplace was previously subjected to an armed attack intended to eliminate him, and after he survived, influential figures worked deliberately to make him disappear. He says he has all the documents proving this. The family originates from Al-Azariq district in Al-Dhalea governorate.

The American Center for Justice had previously issued a statement calling for disclosure of his fate and accountability for those responsible for his disappearance.
