Saudi-Yemeni Memorandum of Understanding to Enhance Electrical Power in Several Governorates by 300 Megawatts

A joint memorandum of understanding was signed today in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, between the Republic of Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to enhance electrical power in a number of governorates with a production capacity of up to 300 megawatts as a first phase.

The agreement was signed for Yemen by the Ministry of Electricity and Energy, and for the Saudi side by the Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen. The signing was attended by the Yemeni Prime Minister, Dr. Salem Saleh bin Breik, and the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and General Supervisor of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber.

The memorandum of understanding includes the implementation of a number of developmental projects in the field of electrical energy and the provision of facilities for strategic stations in: Aden, Al-Mukalla, Seiyun, and Taiz, with a production capacity of up to 300 megawatts as a first phase.
