STC Attacks Hadramout Tribal Alliance, Accusing It of Collusion with Houthis

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Southern Transitional Council (STC) attacked what it described as parallel military formations in Hadramout to the UAE-backed Elite Forces, accusing them of colluding with the Houthi group.
The STC accused the armed formations, in a clear reference to the Hadramout Tribal Alliance, of being involved in protecting lines, some of which are used in smuggling operations that serve the Houthi group, and of operating forces parallel to the UAE-backed Hadrami Elite Forces.
A statement issued by the STC’s Executive Body in Hadramout pointed out that the incident yesterday on the Ghail Bin Yameen road, which it described as being “exploited to smuggle supplies to the Houthi militia,” is a “criminal act,” and demanded the swift pursuit of those involved in the attack.
Armed clashes had erupted in the Ghail Bin Yameen area north of Mukalla between forces belonging to the UAE-backed Hadrami Elite and tribal militants led by Sheikh Salem Al-Attabi, resulting in three injuries, amid escalating tension between the STC and the Tribal Alliance over security and military influence in the governorate.
