Yemeni Health Minister Discusses Joint Coordination With International Organizations For Health Project Distribution

Yemeni Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qassem Buhaibeh, discussed today in the temporary capital, Aden, with the Health Cluster Coordinator in Yemen, Dr. Kamal Al-Olari, ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the ministry and international organizations working in the health sector.
The meeting, which comes as part of the government’s efforts to reorganize the humanitarian work map, focused on the need to unify efforts and direct resources toward actual health priorities, based on field needs and the ministry’s strategic plan.
Minister Buhaibeh emphasized that the ministry is working to activate coordination between national and international components to ensure the effectiveness of interventions and achieve a tangible impact on the ground. He stressed the importance of equitable distribution of health projects, especially in remote areas and communities affected by conflicts and disasters.
He also mentioned that the Ministry of Health is preparing to organize a health donors’ conference in Aden in the coming period, as a strategic platform to mobilize funding and coordinate development efforts between donors and health sector partners, thereby enhancing infrastructure and essential services.
Furthermore, the minister called on international organizations to shift from short-term emergency responses to supporting sustainable projects that focus on building national capacities and ensuring the sustainability of health services. He emphasized that the government is striving to establish a comprehensive health development approach instead of temporary solutions.
For his part, Kamal Al-Olari appreciated the cooperation of the Ministry of Health and its facilitation of the Health Cluster and its partners’ activities, affirming the Cluster’s continued support in strategic planning, needs assessment, and developing the capacities of national cadres.
