Yemeni-UN Discussions to Enhance Vocational Education in Aden, Lahij, and Taiz

The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education, and Vocational Training, Khaled Al-Wassabi, discussed today in the interim capital, Aden, with a delegation from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the needs of vocational institutes in the governorates of Aden, Lahij, and Taiz, and ways to enhance their support and development.

During the meeting, Minister Al-Wassabi stressed the importance of preparing a clear and joint action plan between the Ministry and the organization to regulate project implementation and unify efforts. This is intended to contribute to raising the quality of technical education and vocational training.

Al-Wassabi affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to directing available funding toward the actual priorities needed by the local labor market, to ensure that training programs are genuinely feasible and serve development.

For their part, the IOM representatives reviewed the results of the engineering team’s field visit to a number of vocational institutes in the three governorates, detailing the main challenges and technical needs that require support and development.
