Two Children Killed, Third Injured in Houthi Landmine Explosion in Al Bayda, Central Yemen

Two children were killed and a third was injured on Friday when a landmine planted by the Houthi group exploded in Al-Zahir District of Al Bayda Governorate in central Yemen while they were herding sheep, according to the security media of the Ministry of Interior.
Police said the landmine detonated in one of the district’s areas, killing two boys aged 11 and 12. A third boy, aged 16, was injured and transferred to a medical facility for treatment.
The police added that they had initiated the necessary legal procedures and documented the incident, noting that the tragedy reflects the continuing danger posed by landmines planted by the Houthi group to civilians, particularly children and residents of rural areas.
The police also renewed their call for citizens to avoid approaching suspicious objects or unexploded remnants of war, to report them immediately to the relevant authorities, and to stay away from areas suspected of being contaminated with landmines in order to protect lives.
