Oman Stresses Need to Avoid Escalation in the Red Sea, Intensifies Efforts to Revive Yemen Peace Process

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Sultanate of Oman said on Thursday that it is closely monitoring the latest developments in the Red Sea, emphasizing the importance of avoiding escalation and any actions that could further worsen the situation or threaten freedom of maritime navigation.
In a statement, Oman stressed the need to reduce tensions and preserve the security and stability of the region amid the rapidly evolving situation in the Red Sea.
The statement added that Oman is continuing, in coordination with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Yemeni parties, and the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen, its efforts to resume the political process and implement the peace roadmap, with the aim of promoting security and stability in Yemen and the wider region.
Oman’s statement comes at a time of growing security tensions in the Red Sea, as the international community has warned of the potential impact on freedom of navigation and global trade.
