Father of a Yemeni Journalist Appeals to Save His Son “Detained” in UAE Prisons for 5 Years

Yemen Monitor / Aden / Special Report:
A Yemeni citizen has issued an urgent appeal to the Yemeni presidency, all political parties, and media figures to save his son, journalist Khaled Saleh Abdu Salem Al-Zahri Al-Yafai, who he says has been detained in prisons in the United Arab Emirates for five years.
In a widely circulated video, the journalist’s father — identifying himself as Saleh Abdu Salem — said he had appealed to Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council; Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, a member of the council; Major General Abu Zara’a Al-Mahrami; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE — but his son has still not been released.
The grieving father explained that his son Khaled was arrested at Aden International Airport about five years ago and forcibly transferred to Abu Dhabi, where he is now being held in Al-Wathba Prison.
Aden International Airport is under the control of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is backed by the UAE.
The father concluded his plea by calling on all free Yemeni people and journalists across Yemen — from Sana’a to every region — to demand his son’s release, emphasizing that his detention was arbitrary and unjust.
