A military source informed “Yemen Monitor” that Brigadier General Adnan Raziq, commander of the Fifth Presidential Guard Brigade, was targeted in a dual operation west of the city of Taiz.
The source stated that the operation began with the explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted near the main line in the area, which resulted in the injury of Brigadier General Raziq and the martyrdom of two of his companions.
The source added that the explosion was followed by artillery shelling carried out by the Houthi group on the same area, a development that indicates advanced coordination in the targeting operation.
This targeting comes within the framework of the ongoing escalation on the Taiz fronts, as the city is witnessing rising security tensions between government forces and the Houthi militias.
No official statement has been issued so far by the government forces or the Houthi militias regarding the details of the incident.
