Greenhouses and Solar Energy: Delegation Documents Success of Food Security Projects in Al-Mahra

A delegation consisting of officials from the local authority in Al-Mahra governorate and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) reviewed the progress of a number of agricultural projects implemented as part of the “From Food to Resilience” project, which is being carried out by the World Food Programme (WFP) through the Al-Khair Coalition for Humanitarian Relief.

The inspection tour included projects involving the supply and installation of solar energy systems, the establishment of greenhouses, and the reclamation of agricultural land. The delegation reviewed the outputs of these projects and the crops produced, which reflect the project’s noticeable success in supporting the agricultural sector and improving production levels.

Engineer Awadh Bin Quwayzan, the Governor’s Deputy for Technical Affairs, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of KSrelief, affirming that these projects directly contribute to the advancement of the agricultural sector and the achievement of sustainable development.

In turn, Engineer Saeed Ali Al-Qumairi, Director-General of the Office of Agriculture and Irrigation, commended the support provided, pointing to the project’s importance in empowering farmers and achieving food security.

It is worth noting that the project, funded by KSrelief, includes the construction of agricultural greenhouses, the supply of solar energy systems, the reclamation of agricultural land, in addition to the rehabilitation of a fish landing center in Al-Ghaydah district.
