Houthi Snipers Continue Targeting Civilians in Taiz, Two Women Injured by Direct Gunfire

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The armed Houthi group continues its violations against civilians in Taiz city, where two women were injured by Houthi sniper fire in a new attack east of the city.

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms reported that young woman Islah Abduljabbar (36 years old) was directly shot while near her home in the Al-Shuqab area of Sabr Al-Mawadem district. Elderly woman Zainab Ahmed Aqlan (56 years old) was also injured while passing on the main road in the same area.

The injured were transferred to a local hospital for treatment amid growing concern over escalating crimes committed by the militia against innocent civilians, which frequently target villages and areas in eastern Taiz, in a blatant violation of laws and humanitarian norms.

The Network’s field team stated that these incidents reflect the Houthis’ continued criminal approach, which multiplies the suffering of the population and increases tension in the city, confirming that these attacks occur amid escalating Houthi assaults on civilians in Taiz recently.

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms strongly condemns these repeated violations affecting civilian populations and calls on the international community and human rights bodies to intervene to stop these attacks and ensure the protection of civilians in conflict-affected areas.
