Taiz Lights the Torch of Freedom Celebrating the 62nd Anniversary of the October 14 Revolution

Taiz governorate celebrated on Tuesday the sixty-second anniversary of the glorious October 14 Revolution in an official ceremony attended by local authority leaders, army and security officials, and large crowds from the governorate’s residents.

In his speech, Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan affirmed that the October 14, 1963 revolution against British colonialism was an unextinguishable flame of struggle and an embodiment of the will of a people who refused humiliation and continued to defend their dignity until achieving independence on November 30, 1967.

Shamsan pointed to the pioneering national role of Taiz governorate in supporting the revolution, describing the governorate as a haven for militants, a launching point for revolutionary thought, and a key supplier of cadres and resources for the revolution against both tyranny and colonialism.

The Governor reviewed the most prominent aspects of Taiz’s contributions, including the opening of the main office of the National Front in 1964, the launch of Taiz Radio which became the official voice of the revolution, the publication of the “Al-Tale’ah” newspaper, alongside the establishment of camps for training revolutionaries, hosting revolution leaders, the participation of the governorate’s residents in armed struggle, and providing financial and logistical support.

Shamsan emphasized that the September 26 and October 14 revolutions are two facets of one Yemeni revolution, and that they established the spirit of national unity, stressing the necessity of adhering to the constants of the revolution, republic, and unity, and continuing the struggle until the state is restored and a just, secure federal Yemen is built.

For his part, First Undersecretary of Taiz Governorate Abdulqawi Al-Mikhlafi affirmed that the celebrations of the Yemeni revolution anniversaries embodied the firm will of the governorate’s residents and showed that the spirit of the revolution remains ignited in souls, and that Taiz, despite challenges, remains faithful to its national values and republican principles.
