Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
Yemen achieved a historic milestone by claiming second place in the Fourth Arab Esports Championship (E-Football game), organized by the Arab Federation and hosted by the Jordanian Federation.
This achievement was secured by player Rania Salem Al-Awlaqi, who stole the spotlight after eliminating the champions of previous editions. She topped her second group, defeated Jordan in the semi-finals with a score of (2-0), before narrowly losing to Morocco in the final via a penalty shootout following a (1-1) draw.
This marks Yemen’s inaugural participation in the Esports championships, supported by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Nayef Al-Bakri, who has shown significant interest in specialized sports.
Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and President of the Yemeni Esports Federation, Mounir Al-Wajeeh, affirmed that this accomplishment coincides with the 63rd anniversary of the glorious September 26 Revolution. He dedicated it to all Yemenis and hailed it as an acknowledgment of the Yemeni woman’s capabilities to achieve success and raise the country’s name high.
For her part, player Rania Al-Awlaqi expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Youth and the Federation President for their support, and dedicated her victory to the Yemeni people and her family who stood by her throughout the tournament.
