Houthis Claim Attack on Targets in Israel with Drones
Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:
The Iran-backed armed Houthi group announced on Wednesday evening that it had attacked targets in “Umm al-Rashrash” and “Be’er Sheva” with a number of drones.
The Houthi military spokesperson said that the group “attacked several targets in the Umm al-Rashrash and Be’er Sheva areas.” He added that “the operation was carried out with a number of drones and successfully achieved its goals,” noting that “this is the second operation in the past twenty-four hours.”
Earlier, Israeli media sources reported that 22 people were injured, two of them seriously, after a drone launched from Yemen crashed and exploded in a tourist area in the city of Eilat in southern Israel.
Israeli occupation police said a drone crashed in the center of Eilat, causing injuries and material damage, and that they were conducting an on-site assessment of the situation. The Israeli occupation army also reported that it had attempted to intercept the drone launched from Yemen towards Eilat before it crashed.
The army radio stated that the drone flew at a low altitude, making it difficult for the Iron Dome to intercept. The newspaper Israel Hayom reported that two Iron Dome interceptor missiles failed to intercept the drone.
Israel’s Channel 13 indicated that the air force would investigate the reason for the delay in detecting the Yemeni drone and the failure to shoot it down.
