Netherlands Reaffirms Support for Economic Reforms in Yemen

Governor of the Yemeni Central Bank, Ahmed Ghaleb, met on Tuesday in the interim capital, Aden, with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Yemen, Janet Sieben, to discuss financial and economic developments in the country and their impact on living conditions and public services, amid the recent noticeable improvement in the exchange rate of the national currency and prices.

The meeting addressed the importance of reinforcing these developments through structural reforms in revenue collection and rationalizing expenditure, as well as reprioritizing needs to meet community demands and tackle economic bottlenecks. It also stressed the urgent need for support from regional and international partners to address structural imbalances and restore macroeconomic stability.

The Dutch ambassador reiterated her country’s support for the Central Bank and its reform efforts, emphasizing the importance of joint local and international efforts to help the Yemeni people overcome the exceptional and difficult circumstances facing the country.
