Yemen U-17 Squad Reshuffled: Five Dropped, Six New Faces Added

New head coach Samer Fadl has officially begun his tenure with Yemen’s under-17 national football team, overseeing Sunday’s training session at the Arfan Club Stadium in Lawdar, Abyan Province, as part of the squad’s preparations for upcoming tournaments.

The coaching staff announced changes to the preliminary roster, dropping five players: Abdulrahman Mahdi Fad’aq, Fahmi Khaled Al-Duqain, Mohsen Abdullah Al-Mashhari, Murad Saleh Shouai, and Majid Abdullah Ibrahim.

In their place, six new players have been called up: Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Shamiri, Muhannad Abdu Al-Matari, Hassan Nabil Al-Mujahed, Fadheel Sadiq Qambar, Nader Ali Bakir, and Ayman Ahmed Abdu, the Yemeni Football Association confirmed.

The youth team is gearing up for the Gulf Cup U-17 Championship, which will be hosted by Qatar from September 20 to October 3, 2025. Yemen has been drawn in Group A alongside Qatar, the UAE, and Oman.

Later this year, the squad will also compete in the AFC U-17 qualifiers, placed in Group B with Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia, Guam, and Pakistan. The qualifiers will take place in Kyrgyzstan from November 22 to 30.
