Prime Minister Directs Increased Preparedness to Face Impacts of Weather Depression in Three Yemeni Governorates

Yemeni Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Buraik held a series of phone calls on Wednesday with the governors of Hadramawt, Al-Mahra, and Taiz, to follow up on measures taken to confront the impacts of the weather depression and the accompanying heavy rains and flash floods.
During the calls, the Prime Minister received preliminary reports on the extent of damage to public and private property, agricultural lands, infrastructure, and roads, as well as the efforts of local authorities in coordination with government agencies and regional and international organizations to mitigate negative impacts and provide assistance to those affected.
Bin Buraik directed that preparedness levels be raised and precautionary measures intensified, stressing the need to strengthen coordination between local authorities and relevant ministries to ensure a swift response and reduce the scale of losses.
The Prime Minister praised the measures taken in the governorates, including guidance and early warning, the deployment of evacuation and rescue teams, reopening vital roads, and ensuring the continuity of essential services.
He also emphasized the importance of drawing on past experiences in dealing with climate changes, noting that protecting citizens remains the top priority.
Bin Buraik urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid valleys and flood channels, while calling on fishermen to observe maximum safety measures before going to sea under the unstable weather conditions.
