Hadhramout and Al-Mahra Expecting a Second Wave of Rain, Authorities Enhance Emergency Preparedness

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Early Warning Center in Hadhramout governorate announced on Tuesday the start of a second wave of rainfall resulting from a new atmospheric trough affecting the eastern governorates. The trough is expected to continue until the end of the week, with its effects concentrated on the governorates of Hadhramout and Al-Mahra, bringing rainfall of varying intensity, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

The center explained that this wave follows the end of the first atmospheric trough yesterday, which subsequently moved its effects to Aden and then to the western governorates and the Red Sea coasts, causing extensive material and human damage in a number of districts.

In a related development, Hadhramout Governor Mabkhout bin Madhi, during a phone call with the Undersecretary for Wadi and Desert Districts Affairs, Amer Saeed Al-Ameri, stressed the need for continued readiness and the implementation of necessary precautionary measures to deal with any expected repercussions from the new weather system. He confirmed that local authorities are closely monitoring the situation of citizens in the affected areas.

The Early Warning Center called on citizens to exercise caution and stay away from flood channels and areas where water collects. It affirmed that it would continue to monitor developments in the weather situation until the trough’s impact subsides.

Many Yemeni governorates have been experiencing a wave of rain for days, ranging from light to moderate, amid warnings that the rainy weather will continue in most parts of the country in the coming days.
