Al-Alimi’s Meeting with Yemeni Political Bloc Focuses on Currency Stability and Hadramout Challenges

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Rashad Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, announced that the significant improvement in the national currency’s exchange rate is the first result of the cohesion among state institutions and the implementation of the economic recovery plan.

This statement came during a meeting with leaders of the National Bloc of Political Parties and Components in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, as reported by the official Yemeni News Agency.

Al-Alimi confirmed that the “Imports Regulation” and “Payments” committees were crucial tools in stabilizing the rial and lowering the prices of essential goods.

He cautioned that “this improvement is just a first step,” stressing the need for difficult decisions to protect the reforms and ease the burden on citizens.

The Yemeni president also revealed intensive efforts with international partners to build trust and double humanitarian aid and development interventions for Yemenis.

He called on political forces to move beyond narrow interests and actively participate in fulfilling national obligations and strengthening the state’s presence in the interim capital, Aden, and other governorates. He praised their roles in pushing for effective national partnership during the transitional phase.

Al-Alimi also briefed the party leaders on the efforts to address the situation in Hadramout governorate, including security and military developments, such as dismantling Houthi-linked terrorist cells and intercepting shipments of weapons and contraband.

For their part, the head and members of the National Bloc presented a brief overview of the bloc’s vision for dealing with current changes. They affirmed their support for a national partnership and collective responsibility to protect reforms and alleviate human suffering in the liberated governorates.
