Yemen Monitor/Hudaidah/Exclusive:

Israeli airstrikes targeting Hudaidah’s three ports have caused severe damage, according to local sources speaking to “Yemen Monitor” and satellite imagery.

Overnight Sunday/Monday, the Israeli occupation dropped more than 50 bombs on the ports of Hudaidah and Ras Isa, as well as the power plant in Ras Al-Katheeb, completely destroying them.

Sources reported that the destruction in the three ports targeted the concrete piers and nearby warehouses.

One source noted that while the ports were already damaged from previous strikes, these new, heavy airstrikes added significant destruction, destroying the existing concrete layers that the Houthis had fully repaired as will as three ships docked in Hudaidah Port were also hit.

A second source stated that the damage exceeds 80%, and it will “take many weeks to restore the piers and repair even one crane” in Hudaidah Port.

The damage at the Ras Al-Katheeb power station was extremely extensive, with a local official stating it would be difficult to repair. The subsequent power outage across Hudaidah city since the attack is significantly impacting its residents amid rising temperatures.

The Red Sea Ports Corporation, which operates the three ports, declined to respond to an email inquiry ,sources spoke to “Yemen Monitor” on condition of anonymity.

While the Houthis had previously conducted repairs to damaged infrastructure, the scale of this new destruction, particularly to the concrete layers, indicates a more complex and devastating attack.

Hudaidah Port is not just a commercial hub; it’s a vital lifeline for humanitarian aid reaching millions of Yemenis. The WFP and other relief organizations heavily rely on this port to import food, medicine, and other essential supplies. With the port’s piers and warehouses severely damaged, even basic repairs are expected to take “many weeks,” which will significantly impede the flow of aid.
