U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that Israel and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire after 12 days of escalation and mutual attacks.
Trump said: “Congratulations to everyone — a full and comprehensive ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Iran.”
He added: “The war between Iran and Israel could have lasted for years and completely devastated the Middle East.”
He pointed out that the cessation of hostilities between Tehran and Tel Aviv will take effect in a few hours, initially lasting for 12 hours.
