MASAM Announces Removal of 3,699 Mines and UXO in Yemen Since Early June

The operations room of the MASAM Demining Project in Yemen has revealed its weekly tally of efforts by teams working to clear mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO).
Last week, the teams successfully removed 1,243 mines and UXO, which included 1,182 unexploded ordnance, 57 anti-tank mines, and 4 anti-personnel mines.
From the beginning of June until the 20th of the month, the total number of items cleared reached 3,699 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Statistics up to June 20 show the removal of 3,538 unexploded ordnance and 151 anti-tank mines, highlighting the challenges faced by MASAM’s teams.
Project teams also succeeded in clearing 315,710 square meters of Yemeni land between the beginning of June and the 21st of the same month.
Since the launch of the MASAM project, the total area cleared has reached 67,748,706 square meters, reflecting the significant efforts made to ensure the safety of the population.
