Yemen’s Foreign Minister: Any Houthi Escalation “Threatens Peoples’ Interests and Increases Regional Tension”

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

Yemen’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Shay’e Al-Zindani, has warned of the danger of any new escalation involving the Houthi group, noting that it would increase tension in the region and further threaten the interests and national security of its peoples.

Al-Zindani called on the international community to take a firm stance against attempts to expand the scope of escalation in the Middle East, warning of the serious humanitarian and security repercussions that could result.

In his speech during the emergency meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers, Al-Zindani emphasized the importance of confronting the destructive policies pursued by the Iranian regime, accusing Tehran of seeking to achieve expansionist ambitions at the expense of regional stability and security.

Al-Zindani affirmed Yemen’s full commitment to the principles of respecting state sovereignty and rejecting interference in internal affairs, pointing out that Iran continues to undermine national states in several Arab countries, turning them into platforms that threaten regional and international security.

The minister accused the Iranians of playing a key role in deepening the Yemeni crisis through their continuous support for the Houthis, who overthrew constitutional legitimacy and caused widespread humanitarian suffering.

On Saturday, the Houthi military spokesperson announced that “US involvement in aggression against Iran with the Israeli enemy will lead to the targeting of US ships and warships in the Red Sea.”

Days after ambiguity regarding its potential direct intervention in the war alongside Israel, the U.S. launched strikes earlier today on Iran’s main uranium enrichment facilities: Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard vowed to respond to the US attack, stating it would use “options beyond calculations.”
