3.7 Million Yemeni Children Out of School

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

UNICEF has revealed shocking figures regarding the crisis facing school-aged children in Yemen.

In a recent report, the UN organization stated that around 3.7 million Yemeni school-aged children are out of school.

It noted that the educational crisis in Yemen has reached catastrophic levels. The education infrastructure has suffered severe damage, and teachers’ salaries have been suspended since 2016, leading to a mass exodus of educators.

UNICEF stressed that this situation not only deprives children of academic education but also seriously impacts their cognitive and emotional development.

The organization added that the absence of schools denies children a safe and supportive environment, which is vital for their comprehensive development, especially given the harsh conditions they are enduring.

It emphasized that this crisis represents a major challenge requiring swift and urgent action from the international community and relevant parties.

UNICEF affirmed that ensuring every child’s right to quality education is essential for Yemen’s future.

It’s worth noting that international organizations have previously emphasized that investing in the education of its children is the guarantee for building a brighter future, not only for future generations but for the country as a whole.
