Yemeni Army Foils Houthi Infiltration in Al-Jawf Amid UN Warnings of Escalating Fighting

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The Yemeni Army announced on Sunday morning that it had foiled an infiltration attempt by the Houthis on the “Huwaishian” front in Al-Jawf governorate, northern Yemen. This comes amidst ongoing escalation on the eastern fronts.

The Armed Forces Media Center confirmed that “army heroes repelled a hostile attack launched by elements of the terrorist Houthi organization, supported by heavy fire and drone attacks.” It noted that the infiltration attempt failed and resulted in Houthi casualties.

These military developments occur at a time when the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, has warned of an escalation in hostilities, particularly in Marib governorate. He affirmed that progress in mediation efforts remains slow, despite regional consensus that a negotiated settlement is the only way to resolve the ongoing conflict in the country.

Grundberg stated during his briefing to the UN Security Council that the situation in the Red Sea is also concerning, adding that the United Nations is making intensive efforts to halt hostilities in this vital region.
