Yemeni Security Forces Apprehend 170 Irregular Migrants Off Shabwah Coast

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:
Security forces in Yemen’s southeastern Shabwah governorate announced today, Tuesday, the interception of a boat carrying 170 irregular migrants from Horn of Africa countries. The vessel was attempting to infiltrate through the Kida coast in the Radhum district.
The Interior Ministry’s Security Media Center clarified that the boat, named “Al-Qiyadi,” was commanded by a crew of three Somali nationals. On board were 132 men and 13 women of Ethiopian nationality, in addition to 25 Somali migrants.
Security agencies confirmed that the Radhum District Police Station is coordinating with the Naval Brigade to complete legal procedures and handle the incident in accordance with applicable regulations.
The influx of African migrants to the coasts of Shabwah continues, with the governorate serving as their primary entry point for approximately the past nine months, according to reports from the International Organization for Migration. The province faces significant challenges in dealing with this phenomenon, necessitating urgent international support to help contain it.
