Yemeni Prime Minister Urges International Support to Strengthen Stability and Public Services

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

Yemen’s internationally recognized Prime Minister, Salem bin Breik, has called on regional and international actors to provide direct support to his government in order to improve basic services and enhance security and stability in the country, stressing that such efforts serve the interests of both regional and global peace.

In the first cabinet session attended by Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi, bin Breik stated that supporting the Yemeni government represents “an investment in peace and security at the regional and international levels,” adding that Yemen’s stability is intrinsically linked to the stability of the broader region and the world.

Bin Breik urged his cabinet members to work as a united team with professional integrity, calling on them to prioritize national interests over personal or factional agendas. He also emphasized the need to move forward with administrative, financial, and monetary reforms, as well as to combat corruption in all its forms.

The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of all institutions committing to deposit local revenues into the Central Bank and ensuring these funds are managed transparently to support development efforts and meet citizens’ basic needs.

He stressed that empowering the government to fulfill its duties requires activating oversight and accountability bodies, and controlling revenue collection and spending according to the highest standards of transparency and responsibility.

Bin Breik also underscored that reconstituting the Supreme Anti-Corruption Committee, activating tender and procurement oversight bodies, and reinstating the House of Representatives and the Shura Council to carry out their duties from the interim capital, Aden, are necessary steps to strengthen oversight and ensure institutional integration within the state.
