Head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Arrives in Moscow

Rashaad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, arrived in Moscow today, Tuesday, for an official visit lasting several days. The visit, at the Invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, aims to foster bilateral dialogue on the Yemeni crisis and issues of joint cooperation.
Al-Alimi was received at Vnukovo Airport by Sergey Vershinin, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ahmed Salem Al-Wahishi, Yemen’s Ambassador to Russia, along with members of the diplomatic mission.
The reception ceremony included the playing of both countries’ national anthems and an inspection of the honor guard by the Chairman of the Presidential Council.
During his visit, Al-Alimi is scheduled to meet with President Putin and high-ranking officials at the Kremlin and the State Duma. Discussions will focus on strengthening the century-old historical ties between the two countries, with an emphasis on boosting economic and security cooperation.
The talks will also include coordinating efforts to bring peace to Yemen and support regional stability, according to a statement from the Yemeni President’s office.
In a statement to the official Yemeni News Agency, Al-Alimi expressed his appreciation for Russia’s supportive role of legitimacy in Yemen, indicating that the visit “will open new horizons for strengthening common interests.”
He affirmed Sana’a’s keenness to expand cooperation with Moscow in the fields of development and reconstruction, in addition to political coordination in international forums.
Accompanying the Yemeni President on the visit are Foreign Minister Shaye’a Al-Zindani and advisors in security, development, and cultural fields. This indicates the diverse agenda topics, which also include preserving Yemen’s civilizational heritage as a pillar of cultural cooperation between the two countries.
