Human Rights Statement Exposes Houthi Brutality: House Bombings Reflect Sectarian Agenda

Yemen Monitor | Newsroom:

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has strongly condemned a terrorist attack carried out by the Houthi militia, which involved the bombing of the home of citizen Majid Ali Mohammed Abdullah Ghalib in Al-Shaqb area, Saber Al-Mawadem District, Taiz Governorate, on the morning of Saturday, May 10, 2025.

The network stated that this attack is part of a series of assaults targeting civilians, emphasizing that the bombing of homes and displacement of families reflects the brutality of the Houthis and their pursuit of sectarian goals.

The network confirmed that since the Houthi coup in 2014 up until April 2025, the militia has booby-trapped and detonated 1,287 homes across several provinces, according to field team documentation.

The organization called on all international and local bodies to monitor and document these violations and to present them to the international community in preparation for legal action against the Houthis. It also stressed that the motivations behind these bombings stem from a legacy of revenge and efforts to intimidate opponents.

The network urged the UN Security Council and international bodies to condemn these crimes and appealed to humanitarian organizations to fulfill their responsibilities toward affected families who have lost everything and are living under dire conditions after being displaced.

It further warned that silence on these crimes only emboldens the Houthis to continue committing further violations against civilians.
