Al-Mahra… Drug Smuggling Gang Arrested After Armed Clash

Security forces in Al-Mahra Governorate managed to arrest several members of a gang specializing in drug smuggling during a special operation in Al-Ghaydah city, the governorate’s capital, on Saturday evening.

The operation followed an exchange of fire with the gang, which resulted in the injury of one of its members, while security forces continue their efforts to track down the rest of those involved, according to the Al-Mahra Police Media Center.

A security source explained that the operation was based on accurate intelligence information, as the gang’s movements were monitored and tracked before the operation was carried out.

The source indicated that the security force found quantities of various drugs, as well as firearms, ammunition, and sums of money in the possession of those arrested.

He also confirmed that preliminary investigations are ongoing with the detainees to uncover more details about the gang’s activity and its extensions, in preparation for completing legal procedures and referring them to the Public Prosecution.

This operation comes within the framework of the continuous efforts of the security forces to combat drug trafficking, protect society from its negative effects, and enhance security and stability in the governorate.
