In the resignation statement, bin Mubarak said that he faced “many difficulties and challenges, perhaps the most important of which was my inability to work according to my constitutional powers in making the necessary decisions to reform a number of state institutions, and my inability to carry out the deserved government reshuffle.”
He said that “his government was able to achieve important accomplishments despite obstacles, including saving more than $132 million from the electricity fuel bill within one year, in addition to moving towards canceling purchased power contracts in Aden, which will achieve similar additional savings, with support and funding from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
Bin Mubarak added that what was achieved was thanks to the support of a number of ministers and his colleagues in the government, praising their dedication and work with a national spirit. He stressed that his decision stemmed from his keenness on the unity of the components of the Yemeni state, and his desire to enable the government to work efficiently during the current stage, announcing the submission of his resignation and placing it before the Leadership Council for consideration.
He concluded his message by saying: “From the position of historical responsibility that we all bear, I submit my resignation to you, wishing whoever is assigned after me all the success.”
