Shabwah Plunged into Darkness… Fuel Depletion Paralyzes Main Station and Doubles Residents’ Suffering

Yemen Monitor/Newsroom:

The oil-rich governorate of Shabwah in eastern Yemen, including its capital Ataq, is experiencing a state of near-total darkness due to continuous power outages for several days, caused by the depletion of diesel fuel from the main power plant’s reserves.

Local sources and residents reported that the electricity service has sharply declined, limited to only five hours in Ataq city and two hours in the rest of the directorates.

This outage has exacerbated the suffering of residents, especially with rising temperatures, which has increased their urgent need for electricity.

Citizens are calling on local authorities to intervene urgently to provide the necessary fuel and restore electricity service, warning against the continuation of the crisis and its negative impact on their daily lives.
