The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the convoy of the commander of the Second Division of the Al-Amaliqa (Giants) Forces, Brigadier General Hamdi Shukri, and his escorts in the Ja’awala area of Lahj Governorate, affirming that the operation constitutes a cowardly criminal act that contradicts humanitarian and moral values.
In a statement, the coalition said the attack resulted in a number of martyrs and wounded, expressing its condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
The coalition affirmed the continuation of its coordination with relevant authorities to ensure citizens’ security and maintain stability, stressing that its humanitarian and moral duty toward the Yemeni people obliges it to continue supporting efforts aimed at protecting social peace and confronting any sabotage attempts targeting the liberated governorates.
The statement called for unity and the rejection of divisions, and for joint action with the Yemeni government and security and military institutions to confront terrorist organizations, emphasizing that such acts will not succeed in undermining security or destabilizing the situation.
The coalition also renewed its commitment to supporting Yemeni security agencies in pursuing those involved in the attack and bringing them to justice, alongside its continued steadfast support for military and security forces. It further stressed the importance of coordinated local and international efforts to combat terrorism and dry up its intellectual and financial sources.
The coalition concluded its statement by affirming that it will firmly confront anyone seeking to target Aden or undermine the security and safety of society in the liberated governorates, stressing that terrorism will be met with decisive deterrence and will not be allowed to threaten stability.
