Coalition Welcomes Shabwa Governor’s Support and Affirms Commitment Not to Deploy Forces to the Governorate

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The spokesperson for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen welcomed the statement issued by the Governor of Shabwa Governorate, Awad Mohammed bin Al-Wazir, in which he affirmed his support for the coalition’s efforts and his readiness to work jointly to ensure the stability and security of the governorate and to spare it from any strife.

The coalition stated that the content of the Shabwa governor’s statement reflects a clear concern for the public interest and the importance of joint coordination. In this context, it stressed its explicit commitment not to deploy any forces to Shabwa Governorate except with full coordination with the local authority represented by the governor.

The coalition explained that this commitment comes as part of its respect for local state authorities and its keenness to support security and institutional stability in the governorate, as well as to work jointly with its local leadership in a manner that serves citizens’ security and preserves social peace.

Shabwa Governor Awad Mohammed bin Al-Wazir had previously affirmed, in a press statement, that the governorate is working in coordination with the Arab Coalition to maintain its stability and avoid unrest, saying: “We affirm our support for the coalition’s efforts and will work with it for the stability of Shabwa.” He also expressed his confidence in the leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its pivotal role in supporting the security and stability of the governorate.

Governor bin Al-Wazir praised the fraternal role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting dialogue on the Southern Issue, amid ongoing political moves to convene a comprehensive Southern conference in the capital, Riyadh.

In the same context, the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al Jaber, described the Shabwa governor’s welcome of holding the conference as a “positive step,” affirming that it reflects the direction of the people of the South toward preserving the just nature of their cause and discussing it at a comprehensive dialogue table that meets their aspirations.

Ambassador Al Jaber said, in a post on the platform “X,” that the Kingdom welcomes all Southern leaders who adopt positive positions that serve their cause and contribute to the success of the conference.

Saudi Arabia had earlier announced its welcome of the call by the Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, to hold a comprehensive Southern conference in Riyadh, bringing together various Southern components to discuss fair solutions to the Southern Issue.
