A local source in the Socotra archipelago reported today that elements affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (STC) attacked the headquarters of Saudi forces stationed on the island, marking a dangerous field escalation that threatens to ignite the situation within the archipelago.
The source stated that the elements involved in the attack chanted slogans demanding the departure of Saudi forces before proceeding to impose a siege on their residence. The source described these movements as an “unprecedented development” reflecting the escalating state of tension the island has witnessed recently.
Local residents and observers of Yemeni affairs expressed fears over the repercussions of this escalation on the fragile state of security and stability in the archipelago, warning that the situation could slide into open confrontations that might undermine efforts aimed at calming the situation and normalizing life in the governorate.
