Yemeni President Oversees the Reclamation of Military Camps in Hadramawt and Stresses Civilian Protection and Enforcement of Law
Yemen Monitor / newsroom:
A source within the Presidency of the Republic reported that the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), Rashad al-Alimi, is closely monitoring the ongoing developments in Hadramawt Governorate—specifically the process of recovering military camps. This operation is being conducted as part of the implementation of sovereign decisions and in coordination with the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, with a focus on de-escalation and ensuring civilian safety.
According to the source, Al-Alimi received direct briefings from the Governor of Hadramawt, Salem al-Khanbashi, alongside other official leaders, regarding the progress of field operations and the steps taken to ensure they align with set objectives. These goals include maintaining security and stability, preventing harm to citizens’ interests, and upholding the legal standing of the state.
The source noted that the President stressed the necessity of maintaining the peaceful nature of the camp handover process. Priorities include neutralizing weapons, protecting residents, preserving public and private property, and respecting human rights. He emphasized a policy of non-retaliation while insisting on firm action against any violations and holding those responsible accountable under the law.
Furthermore, Al-Alimi praised the role of the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for its efforts to contain the escalation, support the path toward calm, and protect civilians in a manner that serves Yemen’s security and unity.
In a related context, the PLC head directed that work be accelerated to resume flights to and from Seiyun Airport and to ensure the continuity of public services. These efforts aim to alleviate the suffering of citizens and maintain the rhythm of normal life in the governorate.
Al-Alimi expressed his confidence in the ability of local authorities and the “Nation’s Shield” forces to successfully execute the camp handover plan. He called on the people of Hadramawt to prioritize the public interest and maintain unity and social peace, describing the governorate as a fundamental pillar of stability and development.
The source urged members of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) to prioritize national interests, lay down their arms, and engage with the state and its consensus-based institutions to spare the country further escalation and isolation.
Regarding the “Southern Cause,” the source affirmed the legitimate leadership’s commitment to addressing it justly and fairly in accordance with agreed-upon frameworks. He stressed that a solution cannot be achieved through unilateral actions or by imposing facts on the ground through force, but rather through peaceful dialogue and national partnership.
The source also warned against the continued closure of Aden International Airport to civilian and humanitarian flights, characterizing it as a disruption of a sovereign facility and a direct harm to citizens. He stated that such actions clearly violate the frameworks of the transition period and de-escalation efforts, reaffirming the state’s commitment to protecting its sovereign institutions and rejecting any practices that operate outside the law.
