Yemen Monitor / Seiyun / Exclusive:
Sabri bin Makhashen, Head of the Media Department of the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance, described the recent political announcements made by the President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, as an attempt to escape the reality of “military failure” and to ignore the blood being shed on the ground.
In an exclusive statement to Yemen Monitor, Bin Makhashen expressed his astonishment at Al-Zubaidi’s announcement of what was termed a “constitutional declaration” at a time when the region is witnessing fierce battles in which hundreds have been killed and wounded.
He noted that these confrontations are taking place with what he described as the “militia forces of the STC,” under their various designations, labeling them as “forces invading Hadramawt .”
He said: “It is astonishing that Al-Zubaidi would announce a constitutional declaration without mentioning the ongoing battles, which confirms his desire to cover up the military failure of the STC, which previously acted with arrogance.”
Bin Makhashen stated that the forces of the STC have collapsed in the face of the Nation’s Shield Forces and the forces of the Hadramawt Tribal Alliance since the launch of the operation to “take over the camps” from STC forces in Wadi Hadramawt .
He considered these political moves to be nothing more than an attempt to achieve an illusory “political success” after the situation slipped out of the STC’s control on the ground.
He added that the aim of these announcements is to try to raise the morale of STC forces and its popular support, which he said has “completely collapsed.”
The head of the Hadramawt Tribes Alliance’s media department accused Al-Zubaidi of implementing “external agendas” aimed at spreading and perpetuating chaos in the region.
Bin Makhashen stressed that it “would have been more appropriate to talk about dialogue before the outbreak of the battles, not after.”
He emphasized that “the people of Hadramawt, the people of the South, and Yemenis in general will stand up to these schemes; anything imposed by force of arms and intimidation is entirely rejected and unacceptable.”
Aidarous Al-Zubaidi had announced a two-year transitional phase followed by a referendum on the secession of southern Yemen, stating that if his forces were subjected to military action, the “constitutional declaration” would come into force.
