Hadramawt Authorities Announce New Phase of Security Empowerment and Deployment of “Nation’s Shield” Forces

Yemen Monitor / Newsroom:

The local authority in Hadramawt Governorate has announced the beginning of a new phase of “security empowerment,” confirming that the “Nation’s Shield” (Dir’ al-Watan) forces have commenced a widespread deployment across various regions of the governorate. This move aims to bolster security, stability, and protect the achievements of Hadramawt.

The local authority clarified that the security file will be managed by the people of Hadramawt themselves, ensuring the preservation of the governorate’s security and historical gains, while promoting social peace and avoiding any disturbances.

In this context, the Governor of Hadramawt, Salem al-Khanbashi, delivered what was described as a “reassuring” message to the members of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces. He called on them to lay down their arms and return peacefully to their homes and families, pledging that no individual would be harmed or prosecuted. He also committed to providing necessary medical care for the wounded, framing this as a national, religious, and fraternal duty.

The Governor emphasized that the coming phase represents a new era characterized by tolerance, safety, and brotherhood among all citizens, stressing a shared destiny and asserting that there is no room for revenge in the project of building Hadramawt ’s future.

Al-Khanbashi reiterated that the “justice of the Southern Cause” is a matter of consensus. However, he stated that restoring rights and dignity is not achieved through military control or confrontation, but through dialogue and political consensus that preserves everyone’s status and spares the youth from the woes of conflict.

Additionally, the Governor issued an urgent appeal to citizens, coinciding with field movements to take over military camps, urging them to stay away from roads and military sites for their own safety. He affirmed that these measures are primarily aimed at securing the governorate and maintaining its safety.

Governor Al-Khanbashi had previously announced the start of the process to take over the military camps, emphasizing that this operation is not offensive but rather a preventive measure intended to protect Hadramawt and enhance its security and stability.

It is noteworthy that the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) had previously tasked Salem al-Khanbashi with the general command of the Nation’s Shield forces in Hadramawt , granting him all necessary military, security, and administrative powers to fulfill his duties.
