Yemeni Ministry of Information Disavows “Impersonated” Statement, Reaffirms Commitment to Constitutional Frameworks

Yemen Monitor / Riyadh / Exclusive:
Yemeni Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism on Sunday denied any connection to a statement recently circulated under its name that contained political positions exceeding its legal mandate, reaffirming its full commitment to constitutional references and the Declaration of the Transfer of Power, and rejecting any attempts to impose a political or media reality outside the framework of legitimacy.
In an official statement seen by Yemen Monitor, the ministry stressed that the sole legitimate political leadership recognized domestically and internationally is the Presidential Leadership Council, headed by Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi. Any descriptions or labels contradicting this, it said, constitute an “unacceptable political and legal deviation.”
The clarification came after officials and deputy ministers at the Ministry of Information issued a statement supporting the secession of southern Yemen.
The ministry emphasized that media and cultural institutions operate in accordance with the constitution and the law, rejecting “dragging them into any alignments or unilateral political projects.” It warned that using an official capacity to express political positions outside constitutional frameworks represents a “serious violation warranting accountability.”
The statement further noted that while diversity of opinion is guaranteed, it must be exercised through legitimate channels and under political or partisan capacities—not through state institutions that represent all Yemenis.
The ministry also vowed to take all necessary legal and administrative measures to protect media institutions from “political exploitation” and to preserve the unity of the state’s official discourse, while reaffirming its commitment to the outcomes of national consensus and political partnership aimed at restoring the state and ending the Houthi coup.
